Top International Basketball Prospect Commits to UVA

Saturday afternoon, Igor Milicic, the top international basketball prospect, has declared his intent to play for the University of Virginia under head coach Tony Bennett.

The 6’9 forward announced his decision via ESPN, saying:

“There are many things that are special about UVA…Coach Bennett and his coaching staff are one of the best in the country. I feel like I will have the best conditions to become a better player and person.”

The 18-year old Milicic made his professional debut just three months ago with the Polish national team, but quickly decided to head overseas and compete in Charlottesville.

Milicic joins a UVA roster that is coming off of a regular season ACC Championship, but was recently upset in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at the hands of the Ohio Bobcats.

For a Wahoo roster that has lost their entire frontcourt this offseason- with Trey Murphy III, Jay Huff, and Sam Hauser all departing for the NBA Draft- this commitment from the versatile big man could be exactly what they needed to return to championship contention.
