OPINION: A Wahoo’s Word on Brazos Tacos

There is no question that Charlottesville offers a wide range of dining options that satisfy all types of cravings. Luckily for the Hoos, it does not need to be Tuesday to get a Taco fix. Brazos Tacos, located near the IX Art Park downtown, serves quality Texan-style tacos that will make you want to go every day.

A “Don’t Mess with Texas” sign welcomes customers as they enter the restaurant. No one does of course because who would want to jeopardize their chances of grabbing some delicious tacos?

All food is made fresh and customers can choose from a selection of Brazos’ gourmet tacos or can build their own. A variety of toppings are offered from meats to avocados, mashed potatoes, roasted yams, and more. Prices listed on the menu are for one taco and customers can choose between corn and flour tortillas.

Breakfast tacos are served all day long. I recommend trying the “Flora,” which comes with spinach, scrambled eggs, black beans, queso fresco, and salsa roja.  Another favorite of mine is “This is My Yam,” which is filled with black beans, avocado, queso fresco, roasted pepitas, and obviously, yams.

Apart from their regular menu, Brazos caters to those with special diets by offering vegetarian and Paleo options. Taco customization leaves everyone’s stomachs happy.

If you want something else to munch on, Brazos offers corn chips with salsa, queso, and guacamole and you can add chorizo for free.
