Ex-UVA Professor Going To Jail For Child Porn??

A former Media Studies professor at UVA has reported to jail to begin his 12-month sentence for possession of child pornography.

Yesterday, ex-Media Studies professor, Walter Korte was summoned to jail to start his 12 month sentence for his possession of two child pornography photographs.

Back In August 2016, obscene photographs of naked children were discovered in a trash can here on Grounds near Korte’s office. The pictures were with mail addressed to Korte.

Upon this discovery, search warrants were ordered for Korte’s home, car, and office. Police found over a thousand sexually explicit photos printed off from the internet.

According to officials, most of the photographs were legal except for two which were considered to be Child Photography under the state law.

According to the Daily Progress During the investigation, police did not find any evidence of Korte committing any “hands on crimes against minors”. He underwent a pyschosexual evaluation that concluded that he is not a threat to the public.

The 75 year old pleaded guilty to this offense back in January. Yesterday, his attorneys asked an Albemarle County Circuit Judge if it would be possible for Korte to serve his year in prison from home.

The judge, Humes J Franklin, is considering the request but until he reviews the case Korte will remain in jail. Franklin did not state when he will make his decision.
