On Monday morning, UVa students received a Community Alert email sent by the Charlottesville Police about a reported rape that occurred over the New Year’s weekend.

According to the press release, the sexual assault happened sometime between 7pm New Year’s Eve and 6am New Year’s Day, at a residence on Chancellor Street.

The female victim reportedly met with a man at a local restaurant who later assaulted her at the Chancellor Street residence. The suspect is described as a college-aged white male, 6′ to 6’2” in height, with a thin build and brown hair.

Police have not released any other details at this time.

UVa students have various options of reporting sexual assault, intimate partner violence, or stalking, including filing a report through Just Report It, the University’s website for anonymous online reporting.
