UVA Women’s Tennis Dominates Pitt

The number 13 UVA women’s tennis team had a great start to their weekend with a 6-1 win over the University of Pittsburgh on Friday mirziamov.ru .

The ‘Hoos started off with 6-2 wins on courts one and three in doubles as Julia Elbaba and Erica Susi secured the first win followed by a second win from Danielle Collins and Meghan Kelly.

Collins showed tremendous effort by continuing her winning ways in her singles match, where she beat Pitt’s Audrey Ann Blakely 6-1, 6-1.

Stephanie Nauta followed suit with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Carina Ma while Meghan Kelly clinched another point for the ‘Hoos with her 6-1, 6-1 run against Callie Frey.

The last two points for the Cavaliers came from Cassie Mercer, who won 6-2, 6-4 over Gabriela Rezende and Julia Elbaba who showed a 6-2, 6-3 win over Lolade Ogungbesan to give Virginia the victory.

The women’s tennis team will close out their regular season with Senior Day celebrations on Sunday with a match against number 51 Notre Dame.
