TURBO: Hurricanes in the Eye of the Storm

Relive the excitement of UVA’s thrilling homecoming victory over the University of Miami with this edition of TURBO. The Wahoo defense came to play and stifled the Hurricane’s offense all night long. The U get to think long and hard about this one on their way back to Miami. Wahoowa!

The Scott Stadium crowd hit new levels of electricity Saturday evening as the 16 ranked Miami Hurricanes found themselves in the eye of the storm and the Cavaliers grinded out a victory by the score of 16 to 13.

We saw the good the bad and the ugly in this one, and no not just this guy. The Stork failed to deliver, even though The Turnover Chain made three too many appearances courtesy of a few Bryce Perkins ducks. The Wahoo defensive unit strutted its stuff all night long and led the team to victory.

Miami failed to muster any momentum and couldn’t capitalize offensively. Juan Thornhill plucked a pair of interceptions and Joey Blount snagged a pick of his own. Miami managed 339 yards of offense but only one touchdown. However, no stat better sums this one up than Miami’s meager 33% conversion rate on 3rd down. The defense was dominant!

We have grown accustomed to seeing Bryce Perkins play well but it was rough sledding in this one as he threw for just 92 yards with a 0 to 3 touchdown to interception ratio.

Bronco Mendenhall can not be pleased with the offense on this occasion, but as a Cavalier football fan, it’s hard to be anything but excited by this big time upset. Miami, U just got schooled.
