Prof Talk: Suspension of Nuclear Arms Treaty with Russia

WUVA News met with Assistant European History Professor Kyrill Kunakhovich to discuss the recent American and Russian departures from the Intermediate-range Nuclear Forces Treaty. The treaty was originally created during the Cold War to prevent the US and Russia from developing missiles with ranges between 310 and 3,400 miles, in an effort to avoid a situation in which either country were forced to choose nuclear escalation over a less destructive option. Professor Kunakhovich provided his opinions and insights on the issue, as well as the potential ramifications associated with it.
