Jefferson’s Birthday Removed as Charlottesville Holiday

The Charlottesville City Council voted on Monday to remove the birthday of Thomas Jefferson, April 13th, from the holiday schedule in Charlottesville. In its place will be Liberation and Freedom Day on March 3rd to celebrate the day enslaved people in Charlottesville were officially emancipated by United States troops in 1865.
