Heather Heyer, 32 years old, was identified as the victim of the horrific vehicular homicide during the Unite the Right rally in downtown Charlottesville yesterday.

Heyer was crossing the street and killed when a Dodge Challenger drove into a crowd of protesters.

According to the New York Daily News, Heyer was a Ruckersville native who lived and worked in Charlottesville as a paralegal for the Miller Law Group.

Alfred A. Wilson, Heyer’s manager of the bankruptcy department for which she worked, spoke about Heather in an interview earlier today, saying that she “was a very strong woman” who took a stand against “any type of discrimination”.

Heyer’s mother, Susan Bro, shared with the Huffington Post that her daughter “was about stopping hatred.  Heather was about bringing an end to injustice.”

The Charlottesville City official twitter page issued a statement earlier this afternoon, sending “deepest condolences to the families and friends of Ms. Heyer,” as well as the two officers killed yesterday, Lieutenant H. Jay Cullen and Trooper-Pilot Berke M. M. Bates.

Additionally, Governor Terry McAuliffe sent his support for Heyer’s family on Twitter, saying that Heyer “died standing up against hate & bigotry” and that “her bravery should inspire us all to come together”.

President Donald Trump also sent his condolences to Heyer’s family yesterday in a Twitter post that read: “Condolences to the family of the young woman killed today, and best regards to all of those injured, in Charlottesville, Virginia. So sad!”

A vigil was held Sunday in Heyer’s honor at the intersection where she was killed.  It was live-streamed on the Congregate C’ville Facebook page around 7pm.

Her mother started a GoFundMe memorial campaign, with the campaign raising over $225,000 at our latest check. The funds raised were $175,000 above the initial goal.

Following the yesterday’s events, the alleged driver of the vehicle, James Alex Fields Jr., has been arrested and has been charged with second-degree murder.
