Flu Bug Bites Virginia Basketball

WUVA Sports learned this evening that both Devon Hall and Mamadi Diakite missed practice on Monday with flu-like symptoms, according to a source close to the team. It is unclear at this time whether either player will be available for Wednesday’s game against the Louisville Cardinals.

Of course, sickness has struck Virginia basketball before – last spring, Isaiah Wilkins was forced to miss significant time with a mysterious illness. Fingers crossed that Hall and Diakite will be back and healthy soon.

Coach Tony Bennett provided more details about De’Andre Hunter’s ankle at his press conference earlier today. According to Bennett, Hunter received treatment over the weekend and also missed practice on Monday. He’ll be day-to-day moving forward, but WUVA has been told that the injury “isn’t too serious”.

Virginia faces Louisville on Wednesday at 7pm at John Paul Jones Arena in a game with serious ACC implications. The Cardinals are currently in 2nd place in the conference, 2.5 games behind the Cavaliers. A Virginia victory on Wednesday night would seemingly clear the way for the Cavaliers to be crowned the ACC regular-season champions, their third such title since 2014.
