Cavaliers earn huge road victory over Boise State

On Friday night, the Virginia Cavaliers surpassed their win total from all of last season, earning their third win at Boise State by a score of 42-23.

UVA overcame long odds to take down the Broncos, as the road win for the ‘Hoos was just the team’s second in the past five years. The home loss was Boise State’s worst since 2001.

Virginia quarterback Kurt Benkert turned in another impressive performance, following up his 455-yard performance from a week ago with 273 yards and 3 touchdowns. Benkert and Andre Levrone established their chemistry throughout the game. The senior receiver caught 5 passes for 141 yards and 2 TDs.

Boise State began the game on an 80-yard drive completed by a Ryan Wolpin touchdown run. The ‘Hoos then followed up with three unanswered scores to take a 21-7 lead before the Broncos added a touchdown run from Jake Roh just before halftime.

After halftime, Virginia broke the game open with 21 more unanswered points, two of which were on plays of 50+ yards. Levrone caught a 64-yard bomb from Benkert, and Olamide Zaccheaus rushed for a 56-yard score.

Boise State would add a touchdown late in the fourth quarter before the Cavaliers were able to run the clock out with the final score of 42-23.

Both teams will have an off week before starting competition against conference foes. Virginia will look to extendits winning streak against Duke, while Boise State will take on BYU in another Friday night matchup.
