This morning The Daily Progress reported James E. Ryan, dean of the Harvard Graduate School of Education, is expected to be named the University of Virginia’s next president.

James E. Ryan was a 1992 graduate of Virginia Law and later became a professor in UVa’s Law school. He was an instructor in the Supreme Court Litigation Clinic and was also a director of the Law School’s Program in Law and Public Service.

In 2013 he left the University of Virginia and was hired by Harvard to lead their Education School. When he left UVa he said, “he will dearly miss UVA Law” and that “…This has become my home, and my family’s home, and leaving home is never easy.”

It appears he will be coming back home today.

This is a developing story. We expect an official vote from the Board of Visitors to come later today, stay tuned for updates.
