Abtin Afshar and the Iranian Protests

In September of this year, a young woman was killed by police for refusing to wear a headdress in Tehran, Iran. Police brutality is not uncommon in Iran under the rule of their Supreme Leader. However, this young woman’s death became a powder keg for multi-generational protests in Iran with women and men standing side by side for equality. That is why Abtin Afshar of the Iranian Student Association at UVA is joining us today to share his story and the story of Iran’s current situation.
