This year WUVA, Inc. sold its FM radio station, WUVA- FM 92.7, to Saga Communications. For the past 70 years, WUVA has been the longest running student-operated news radio station at the University of Virginia, allowing aspiring student journalists to receive practical experience in the broadcasting industry.
WUVA made the transition to creating written and video content with the addition of an online news website in 2011 and has since become one of the leading news providers on grounds. With the funds from the sale of the radio station, WUVA is moving to a new location and purchasing high-tech equipment that will only increase reporting capabilities. WUVA’s bright future is only getting brighter.
