As students of the University of Virginia are on the search for fun day trips and events to go to during this summer season, the Virginia Renaissance Faire is a fascinating option.
Located about an hour and a half away from the University, the annual Virginia Renaissance Faire is taking place at the Lake Anna Winery in Spotsylvania, Virginia.
The Faire is open on Saturdays and Sundays from now until June 11th from 10am – 5pm.
Every weekend, the Faire hosts a variety of special Shakespeare Adventure Quests, and medieval themed events. This upcoming weekend is scheduled to be the Pirate Invasion. Expected events this weekend include Witch Trials, live music events, games, Shakespeare themed activities, live stage performances, and a Paper Puppet Show.
Other fascinating events and entertainers at the Faire include archery lessons and contests, jousting lessons and demonstrations, jugglers, comedians, and minstrel singers.
Additionally, many merchants sell a wide variety of goods and services such as back massages from Bodywork By Barch, beautiful live roses from Pixie’s Petals, handcrafted wares, and many more. A variety of food is also served at the Faire, including turkey legs, traditional British baked goods, fried favorites and more.
Admission for the Virginia Renaissance Faire is free for children age 5 and under and only $10 for those age 6 and over.
