With a little more than a month left before fall semester starts, some Hoos may be running out of fun destinations to visit during this summer, especially with their summer budget getting smaller and smaller.
Located less than an hour and a half away from the University, one fun destination for a day trip is Lake Anna, Virginia. Lake Anna offers wonderful destinations for lakeside dining, wine tours, fishing, boating, and swimming.
Additionally, some local events will make your visit to the Lake even more interesting. Events are continually being held in the area over the course of the summer. These include the Mineral Bluegrass Festival July 21st – 23rd, the Seismic Saturdays Aftershock Sundays (a local event where live performances are held every weekend for the months of July and August) and the Mineral Farmers Market.
Should you wish to support a local business while also enjoying lakeside dining, then visiting the Cove is the perfect stop. The Cove is a restaurant and bar right on the lake that has recently been purchased by new owners and has been beautifully refurbished. The restaurant offers different specials on food every day and customers really enjoy their hamburgers.
The Cove has a wonderful outdoor patio and a bar, named “the Pirate Cove”, making the Cove the perfect stop for entertainment as well. On Tuesday nights they offer “Karaoke Tuesdays” from 7-11pm and Fridays they have “DJ Fridays” from 8pm-1:30am where customers can enjoy dancing with friends.
Finally, the Cove also houses a convenience store, “Hunter’s Landing”, making it the perfect stop by boat or car for all your needs.
The Cove is located at 6320 Belmont Road, Mineral, VA 23117 and can be reached at (540) 854-7000, making it a must see destination at Lake Anna.
