Dave Matthews Band, a Charlottesville native group, announced that they will be hosting an evening of “music and unity” in response to the “Unite the Right” rally, and white supremacist attacks on August 11th and 12th.
“A Concert for Charlottesville” will be held at UVa’s Scott Stadium on September 24th, and is set to feature performances by Pharrell, Justin Timberlake, Ariana Grande, Chris Stapleton, The Roots, Brittany Howard, Cage The Elephant, and more.
The tickets will be given out through a lottery system, with Charlottesville residents and UVa students receiving priority. Tickets are free of charge* and may be requested here from now until Monday, September 11th at noon.
Dave Matthew’s Band formed 26 years ago in Charlottesville, and will be ending their indefinite hiatus with this concert in hopes of raising money for those affected.
Concert-goers are encouraged to donate to the “A Concert for Charlottesville Fund”, which will benefit not only victims of the attacks, but also families, first responders, and organizations that are committed to equality and justice. Donations can be made here.
