Charlottesville Restaurant Week Begins Friday

8840595Charlottesville Restaurant Week kicks off today, which will raise money for the culinary school at Piedmont Virginia Community College. Dozens of restaurants will participate, each offering three-course, prix fixe menus for $19, $29 or $39.

The PVCC culinary program will get $1 for each meal sold. In July, Charlottesville will have another restaurant week in support of the Blue Ridge Food Bank.

Café Caturra, a restaurant on the Corner, will participate. It offers a menu with three courses for $19. This is the restaurant’s second time participating in a Charlottesville Restaurant Week. Kendall Siewart, a server and UVA student, said they are hoping for more UVA students and Charlottesville community members to come try their menu.

“Restaurant week is Charlottesville tradition but also since we are a restaurant on the corner we are pretty involved with UVA students and this is a pretty inexpensive way to try all of our food,” Siewart said. “There’s a roasted red pepper hummus with warm pita. They can get anything from mussels to a big a salad with grilled chicken, to a Tuscan panini. Most of the stuff is from our normal menu but at a discounted price.”

Siewart said that although the snow will slow business down this weekend, the restaurant does have a fireplace and cozy couches to sit on for people to escape the cold.

Restaurant week will run from January 22-29. It is sponsored by Cville Weekly.
