Scheduled: Virginia Takes on #1 Gonzaga in Texas

Following a period of paused basketball activities and several cancellations of games against top non-conference opponents, the Virginia Cavaliers have scheduled another non-conference game against the #1-ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs, set for 4pm on December 26th  in Fort Worth, Texas.

UVA paused all basketball activities on December 9th due to COVID-19 issues and had to cancel highly anticipated games against Michigan State and Villanova, as well as against Wake Forest. Virginia was also unable to play against Florida and Maine, due to those teams pulling out of the Bubbleville event at the beginning of the season.

Virginia will return to practice on December 19th and play host to William & Mary on December 22nd at John Paul Jones Arena.

Virginia and Gonzaga have played three times, with the Bulldogs holding a 2-1 advantage. Gonzaga defeated Virginia in the first round of the 2001 NCAA Tournament and the Cavaliers defeated Gonzaga, 108-87, in their latest meeting in 2007 in Charlottesville. The matchup will feature two of the premier coaches and programs in college basketball over the last decade.

The game will be televised on CBS and a limited number of fans will be able to attend the game in person.
