NBA Commissioner Adam Silver spoke at the UVA McIntire School of Commerce Business of Sports Forum on Friday. With the NBA in the midst of an international controversy with China after Houston Rockets General Manager, Daryl Morey, made a statement in support of pro-democracy supporters in Hong Kong, Silver’s appearance at the Forum proved to be a timely opportunity for Silver to clarify his stance that the NBA is an American company which supports American values, especially freedom of speech.
