The Virginia Cavaliers defeated the Pittsburgh Panthers Saturday night 30-14, securing their first victory in Pittsburgh in program history and taking down the defending champions of the ACC Coastal divsion. The Wahoos started strong, scoring the game’s first 10 points, including a Chris Sharp touchdown reception, setup by a blocked punt by Noah Taylor. Pitt gained momentum during the second quarter, however, and the Cavaliers went into the half trailing 14-13. The UVA defense responded by holding the Panthers scoreless in the second half, led by an interception and two tackles from Joey Blount. Bryce Perkins connected with Hasise Dubois for his second touchdown pass and Wayne Taulapapa recorded his first career touchdown run, as the Hoos pulled away late. UVA will welcome former coach Mike London and the William & Mary Tribe to Scott Stadium this Friday for their home opener.
