Coming off an impressive performance with the Miami Heat in the NBA Summer League, Virginia alum London Perrantes signed a contract with the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday. The Spurs did not disclose terms of the deal per team policy.

Perrantes becomes the fifth Virginia Cavalier to actively play in the NBA, joining Mike Scott of the Wizards, Joe Harris of the Nets, Malcolm Brogdon of the Bucks, and Justin Anderson of the 76ers. Virginia is now tied for fourth in the ACC with five active NBA players.

Perrantes averaged 10 points, 5 assists, 2 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game in the MGM Resorts Summer League and 11.3 points, 4.8 assists, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game in the Orlando Summer League. Virginia fans have to be excited about Perrantes landing on an NBA roster, especially under the tutelage of coaching legend Gregg Popovich. Perrantes will have the opportunity to compete for a role on one of the NBA’s elite teams and play alongside MVP candidate Kawhi Leonard.

London Perrantes was a key factor in taking the Virginia basketball program to the next level from 2013 to 2017. Perrantes is the all-time leader in games and minutes played at Virginia. He finished as the second best three-point shooter in program history, at 40.9%. In his senior season, Perrantes was named second team All-ACC.
