The University of Virginia will be hosting the Concert 4 Cambodia on March 25th from 7-9PM in the University Chapel. The concert is a fundraiser for a non-governmental organization called the Build Your Future Today Center, in Siem Reap, Cambodia, and proceeds from the concert will go towards benefiting the organization. Globemed at UVa has a partnership with this organization and sends 3-6 interns to Cambodia during the summer to do volunteer work.
“We are trying to reach our fundraising goal for the year,” says Mariana Forero, a third year student responsible for organizing the event. “We thought it’d be fun to have an event with a diverse mix of performances, and the chapel is a really great venue!”
Some of these diverse performances will be given by acapella groups, like Remix and Hoos in Treble, and other performances will be given by groups like the Cav Symphony Orchestra and The Shrugs. Independent performers include Hiu hiu Taylor Ruckle, Alice Clair, and Yilin Liu. In total, there will be 11 performances.
Refreshments will be available after the concert ends, including hot chocolate and pastries like Insomnia Cookies.
Tickets are $5 and can be paid through cash or venmo.
